Our Programs

Early Years

The Early Years program is focused on hearing and identifying musical elements such as pulse, rhythm, pitch, and tempo through the learning of carefully selected fun folk songs and nursery rhymes. Each song and rhyme has its own set of actions that are designed to kinaesthetically reinforce the learning of the rhythm and melody as well as a game to make the learning experience as enjoyable as possible!

Throughout the Early Years program, children learn to perform music and even create their own rhythms! The lessons plans are designed and structured to build knowledge of key musical skills like critical listening, singing in tune, developing inner hearing, and ultimately reading and writing music. These skills are reinforced throughout the entire programme.

Primary Years

As the children begin their primary education, they learn the solfa names for each pitch and their accompanying hand-signs; these are syllables that are assigned to musical pitches and enable the learner to audiate, or mentally hear, the pitch of a musical note from sight before singing the note aloud. Combining this new skill of singing in solfa with reading simple rhythm notation enables the learner to read and write their own music!

Throughout the Primary Years, the children continue to learn all the solfa names and more complex rhythm notation until they are able to read all the notes on the musical staff and sight sing simple musical compositions.
